Fluoride is found naturally in water supplies in some parts of the UK. Water fluoridation schemes are in operation in other parts of the UK which aim to add fluoride to a concentration of 1 part per million (ppm) to promote dental health in children. Some recent studies in the US have suggested a correlation between fluoride concentration in drinking water and the number of children with ADHD, these findings are controversial, and no high-quality studies exist that prove fluoride causes ADHD.
